Biography
Andy & Steve are brothers from south east of England who have been DJing together since 1996. The Driver Brothers seem to make a good impression on everyone they meet, and seem to forge good friendships which leads to fresh opportunities, which surely says a lot about them as DJs and people.
Having listened to dance music throughout the early/mid 90s, they were interested enough in the scene to purchase some very basic turntables and mixer. It took them a couple of years to break out of the bedroom and into the local bars and clubs, but have maintained a good number of residencies which shows dedication and enthusiasm in what they are doing. During the early stages of their learning curve, they collected anything from house to trance records, until, around the millennium, they focused on house, be it soulful, funky, US, UK – if it’s good they’ll play it! They have had mixes played on regional and internet radio stations, had many available to download from a wide range of websites, and have played alongside some established DJs along the way. Influences for them include Masters At Work, Carl Cox, Danny Rampling, Conan Manchester (Liquid People), Jeremy Healy, Allister Whitehead and many, many more…
During 2004 things began to gain momentum and their highlights were playing at Turnmills (London), a River Thames Boat Party (with Inspired Records), and getting more regular work in and around their local area.
In March 2005 they attended Miami Winter Music Conference and made good contacts, which led to gigs during September in Washington DC (all through their American agent Ricardo at Nuvomusic.com) and New York City (with the Flavored Layers crew). In DC they played at a different place every night they were there including Eyebar, Mantis and the Bossa Lounge. The WMC also hooked them up with their now Britsh agent, Steve Tucker of ME-Music (www.myspace.com/stevetuckermem). In September 2005 The Driver Brothers played in Ibiza, Spain. During their short stay on the famous white island they played at Plastik, and at Orange Corner before, during and after a very memorable sunset. Also in 2005 they played sets at the Ministry Of Sound (London) on behalf of Rhythm At Work and have been playing regularly at Route Nightclub, which is regarded as the best club in their local area.
2006 saw The Driver Brothers step up a gear and return to play sets at Ministry Of Sound (London), Turnmills (London), at the Miami WMC‘06 (Wyndham Hotel & D’vine Lounge) and in Washington DC (Chi Cha, Hell, Anzu & Gua Rapo - all on behalf of Nuvomusic.com). In July 2006 they also returned to Ibiza and played at Cafe Paradis, The Orange Corner, Itaca and Plastik. The also designed and maintained their own website www.thedriverbrothers.co.uk and www.myspace.com/the_driver_brothers
In 2007 they once again travelled to WMC and played in the Wyndham Hotel meeting numerous new contacts and hooking up with old friends and crazy lizards (Z Morse!). Whilst mingling and partying with numerous stars at clubs, bars and private mansion parties (as well as djing) they increased the size of contacts book further.
The Driver Brothers returned to Ibiza in September 2007 for gigs at Cafe Paradis (for Hustle), The Orange Corner, Itaca, Plastik (Ministry of Sound Radio) and HUSH (La Vita).
Looking to push themselves further they wanted to try the production side of things. On their return to the UK from the WMC’07 the opportunity arose for them to work on a remix for Brittaney Starr (IWFTDJ) who they met whilst on the other side of the pond - so with their close friend and Producer/Engineer ‘10 Years Too Late’ they hit the studio and got to work. The outcome was a new partnership which will be returning to the studio to create both more remixes and new original material - watch this space....
